WoM – Pandemic Christmas Edition: White Christmas Martini

Christmas Day. Today, after stuffing myself with dinner, I found one little spot for today’s cocktail: White Christmas Martini.

  • 2 ounces vanilla vodka
  • 2 ounces white chocolate liqueur
  • 1 ounce white creme de cacao
  • 1 ounce half-and-half
  • Honey and coarse sanding sugar for rim garnish
  • Pour the honey into a shallow dish and put the sanding sugar in another shallow dish. Coat the rim of the glass with the honey; then dip the rim in the sugar to coat evenly. Set the glass aside.
  • In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, add the vodka, white chocolate liqueur, creme de cacao, and half-and-half. Shake vigorously and strain into the prepared martini glass

I think I prefer this one to last night’s cocktail. Easier to prepare for one thing. This is definitely a sweet, creamy cocktail due to the chocolate liqueur and the cream. Save it for dessert.

One thing that I notice is that the drink is completely white, except for the honey which add a bit of a yellow tinge to the overall appearance of the cocktail. Since the honey really doesn’t bring much to the cocktail in general, I’d be tempted to just wet the rim with something else, like some of the vodka instead of the honey to keep the otherwise pure whiteness of the cocktail.
