WoM – Pandemic Christmas Edition: Champagne Cosmopolitan

Posted in Mixology at 20:03 by Kathleen

The Week of Mixology is coming to end. We close it with the Champagne Cosmopolitan. FYI, no post yesterday because it was Champagne at midnight to welcome in the New Year. Or rather to tell 2020 to get fuck out.

  • 1½ ounces vodka
  • ½ ounce triple sec or Grand Marnier
  • ½ ounce cranberry juice
  • ½ ounce fresh squeezed lime juice
  • dash of simple syrup or agave, as needed
  • ice
  • 2 ounces chilled dry champagne or sparkling wine
  • Combine vodka, triple sec, cranberry juice, lime juice, and ice in a cocktail shaker. Shake until very cold.
  • Taste and if the mixture seems too tart, add a dash of simple syrup or agave.
  • Pour into a chilled martini glass then top with champagne or sparkling wine.

Of course I went of Grand Marnier instead of generic triple sec. Can I taste the difference? Probably not, I don’t really know. I really need to do a session on all those orange liqueurs.

Again, this was a nice change from all the creamy cocktails we’ve add during this WoM. It was a bit tart, but it can easily be adjusted to anyone’s taste.

My main problem is that my martini glasses are a bit small. I guess I need new glasses… (For the records, I am running out of space for all my glasses.)
