WoM – Tropical Christmas Edition: Holly Jolly Christmas Citrus Cocktail

Posted in Mixology at 17:02 by Kathleen

Tonight’s cocktail makes use of a liquor I bought a while back and still had not tried: St. Germain. Christmas time is clementine season, this cocktails takes advantage of it.

Holly Jolly Christmas Citrus Cocktail

  • 2 oz vodka
  • ½ oz St. Germain (elderflower liquor)
  • 1/3 cup fresh squeezed clementine or blood orange juice
  • Ginger beer, for topping
  • Pomegranate arils, for topping
  • 1 sprig fresh thyme or mint

Fill a cocktail glass with ice. Add the vodka, elderflower liquor, and clementine juice. Top with ginger beer. Add the pomegranates and thyme or mint.

There were no blood oranges at the grocery store but clementines were readily available. So clementines it was. I also happened to have a pomegranate in the fridge.

The cocktail is good. I am not floored but it is good. Different. It might be better as a sunny afternoon cocktail rather than an evening cocktail. Next time, I will have to try with blood oranges.
