WoM – Christmas Edition: Poinsettia

Posted in Mixology at 22:14 by Kathleen

To close this WoM – Christmas Edition and to close 2011, we are turning to the bubbly. Sounds almost like I planned it that way, doesn’t it?…

Final cocktail of the week, the Saturday cocktail, is the Poinsettia.

Poinsettia

  • Champagne
  • 1/2 oz. Cointreau
  • 3 oz cranberry juice
  • Put the Cointreau and cranberry juice in a chilled champagne flute. Stir them and top the rest of the way with champagne.

That’s a great solution for those evening where you want to serve champagne but your guess are not champagne drinkers. I managed to get people who wouldn’t have drunk champagne otherwise to toast the New Year. The first cocktail I mixed I followed the recipe but even with large flutes I found it too juicy and with not enough sparkles. So for the next ones, I used 2 oz. of cranberry juice instead of three, it was much better.

And here ends the Week of Mixology – Christmas Edition 2011. Happy New Year everyone!
