WoM – Pandemic Christmas Edition: Santa’s Sleigh

Posted in Mixology at 20:23 by Kathleen

This year WoM Christmas is coming to you from Hawaii. This is the Year of the Pandemic and we are all (well the responsible ones among us) stuck at home.

Tonight’s cocktail is a repeat of a Christmas Cocktail from 2014.

I had actually forgot that I had already tried this one and I put it on this year’s list. It’s a good one, a dessert cocktail. This time I followed the recipe, yet still sprinkled cinnamon on top of the drink rather than using a cinnamon stick.

Santa’s Sleigh

Santa's Sleigh 2020

  • White sugar crystals, preferably coarse
  • 2 cups store-bought eggnog, chilled
  • 1/2 cup brandy
  • 1/2 cup amaretto liqueur
  • 1teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 scoops vanilla ice cream
  • 4 cinnamon sticks
  • Dampens the rims of 4 martini glasses and then line the rims with sugar crystals.
  • Combine eggnog, brandy, amaretto, nutmeg, and ice cream in a blender; process until smooth.
  • Pour mixture into martini glasses and garnish each glass with a whole cinnamon stick.

One thing that I noticed this time around is that I would have like the drink to be colder. The eggnog was fresh out of the fridge and the ice cream fresh out of the freezer, yet, it didn’t seem cold enough for me. Maybe chilling the glass first would help? Not sure. I guess that experiment is for next time.
