WoM – Tropical Christmas Edition: Christmas Margarita

Posted in Mixology at 18:31 by Kathleen

Coconut milk, tequila, cranberry juice, the Christmas Margarita might be a bit of a strange adventure. Let’s see.

Christmas Margarita

  • Cinnamon sugar, for rimming
  • 1 ½ oz blanco tequila
  • ½ oz orange liqueur
  • 1 oz coconut milk
  • ½ oz freshly squeezed lime juice
  • ½ oz white cranberry juice
  • Lime wedge, for garnish
  • Cranberries, for garnish
  • Rosemary sprig, for garnish

Rim an old-fashioned glass with cinnamon sugar. In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, pour the tequila, orange liqueur, coconut milk, lime juice, and white cranberry juice. Shake well, strain into prepared glass over fresh ice. Garnish.

Holy crap! That is disgusting. We tried to salvage it by adding some crème de menthe, without much success. It is sour and bitter.

When it comes to making the cocktail, I couldn’t find white cranberry juice so I used normal red cranberry juice. The white was just to keep the cocktail white. As it turns out, the red cranberry juice didn’t have much of an effect on the color and the cocktail remained mostly white, maybe with a light pink tint. (And turned green after we added the crème de menthe…)

I also couldn’t find any fresh cranberries. I used pomegranate instead. Nice pretty red touch.
